CSUSB alumnus enjoys the fruits of his labor at family’s Temecula winery
It’s all about family for Jeff Wiens. The CSUSB alumnus ’93, B.S., natural sciences, founded Wiens Family Cellars in 2001 with several family members, and today serves as the general manager, working alongside many of them. On a typical day, you can find Wiens out in the vineyard pruning vines, in the tasting room serving his award-winning wines to customers, or doing accounting and finance work up in his office. Every day brings something new.
Wiens believes in the importance and power of education, and credits CSUSB with providing him with a wide breadth of knowledge in many different areas that have allowed him to understand all facets of a business, from the technical side to the managerial side. He says that his degree from CSUSB has proven to be invaluable and he wouldn’t be in the position he’s in today without it.
He also recognizes the need to give back to the community and does so by serving on several committees at Aquinas High School in San Bernardino, hosting fundraising events at the winery and donating his product to local charities. Wiens is defining his future by providing a welcoming place for his guests, a nice work environment for his associates and employees, and growth opportunities for all of the individuals at the winery.
